Kapo Weka Kapo Ōkahu Inuāwai Noho Easter Weekend 2024.
A well received strategy that focused on hapū spending time on the Pā engaging wānanga centered on cultural manaaki. The Pā committee hosted 80 uri over a 3 day period where we facilitated 6 wānanga and celebrated the success of the weekend with hakari on Sunday. Along with an easter egg hunt for ngā tamariki and a few big kids too! Wānanga breakout ropū were immersed in Paepae Karanga, Hitori, Taiao and Mara kai, Whakairo and Raranga whatu and tāmoko. Tamariki experienced there own wānanga with kemu and a programme filled with educational activities. Evening wànanga focused on hapū history and whakapapa along with any wānanga that evolved through the curiosity of uri to understand and learn about self identity. Through the wānanga of tāmoko we as a hapū unpacked the significance of reclaiming our moko kanohi and identified a need to host a hapū mokopapa in the near future. The Pā trustees are determined to continue the Kapo Weka Kapo Ōkahu Inuāwai Noho yearly and look forward to receiving our uri in the future. The overall aim of these reconnection noho is that uri are more receptive to being involved with all kaupapa at Pā and for our hapū it is vital that we ensure our paepae is robust and warm, our kaikaranga are plentiful and nurtured to stand and tuku karanga, our ahurea toi is vibrant, kai sovereignty and wharekai is well supported with ringawera and our tamariki are playing and enjoying themselves on the Pā! Keep an eye out for pānui on our social platforms and we will see you at the next Kapo Weka Kapo Ōkahu Inuāwai Noho!
